County Academy Programme

The Shropshire & Herefordshire Golf Partnership through funding provided by the England Golf Partnership have launched an initiative to develop a county wide coaching programme aimed at trying to identify and encourage talented junior golfers, who are just below the County Golf Union/Association criteria for inclusion in county squad coaching. The extra funding available will enable the County to cast the net a little bit wider , with the hope that we can find more talented youngsters who might be able, with the right encouragement and coaching, to step up their games to County standard.

The programme will achieve this through the creation of a network of ‘County Training Academies’ led by coaches best suited and positioned to deliver coaching to this group of young people. It will be vitally important that the coaches work as a team, sharing best practice and working with a common goal of developing young talent, with the aim that when we pass players over to the County they will already have excellent understanding of what is required to become a top class golfer.
